Thinking for / about / with Environment — Satellite event of the Nauru National Pavilion
in collaboration with A4CT and Villa Eläintarha
23 April 2026, 17:00–20:00
Villa Eläintarha, Eläintarhantie 14, Helsinki
Join us for an evening that threads art, activism, and practice into urgent conversations about climate collapse, post‑coloniality, and the futures we can still make through dialogue and hands‑on making. In the open conversation, we will have Khaled Ramadan, who is curating the Nauru National Pavilion for the 61st Venice Biennale, and Lea Lintula (they/them), who has well-established involvement in local climate and social activism and the underground art scene in Helsinki. The discussion will be on the entanglement of geopolitics, socio-cultural struggle, the function of art and activism, greenwashing, and everything else that is intertwined with climate collapse and environmental thinking. After the discussion, Vilma Määttänen will be facilitating a hands-on workshop based on her material practice. Together, we will explore and discuss how the climate crisis and environmental thinking can reflect in our artistic practice.
* 17:00–17:45 Open conversation with Khaled Ramadan & Lea Lintula
* 18:00–20:00 Workshop with Vilma Määttänen
