Dino Georgeton, Zacarias Maia and Christopher Moy of Basel-based ensemble Klanglab Ensemble, were at Villa Eläintarha in March 2026, whilst in Helsinki to rehearse with Oblivia.
KlangLab operates in the realm of new and experimental music, engaging in close collaboration with various composers to develop pieces, many of which comprise installative moments or are site-specific in nature. The name “KlangLab” focuses on the process of creation and rehearsal that precedes individual compositions and performances. The musical material brought in by the composer is experimented upon and modified by the musicians during their collaborative phase until a shared idea emerges between the ensemble members and the composer. The ensemble perceives this creative exchange as a sound laboratory, providing space for collective musical experimentation.
