Camile Sproesser was in residency at Villa Eläintarha in July 2026. Born in São Paulo, Brazil, she is a nomadic visual artist whose work is deeply influenced by her constantly evolving environment. Using non-traditional mediums like woven jute and linen gaze, she blends plant-based materials to explore the cyclical nature of life through painting. There’s an intrinsic rawness to the work that plays with timing, it could have been created in other eras and possible worlds.
Sproesser explores the universal collective subconscious by creating an imagery related to ancient symbologies, mythology and archetypes from places she has been, vulnerably putting herself and her work as active, present testimonies of the supreme impermanence that reigns in this world.
She has been experimenting with new mediums and materials like tempera on clay and rice paper while on residency in Helsinki.
The artist has held solo exhibitions with galleries like Mendes Wood DM, Sardenberg and Peres Project and participated in group shows with Gomide & Co, Saatchi, Monitor, Lamb Gallery, among others. She is having her first London solo exhibition with Lamb Gallery in November 2026.
