Our first resident, spending June 2025 with us in the newly reopened Villa, was Helsinki based visual artist Ilari Vanhatalo. Ilari is a self-taught artist whose artistic practice revolves around exploring the infinite possibilities of abstract painting and sculpting, channeling surrealism and incorporating found materials into his creations.
“My art is also a reflection of my passion for animal rights and the importance of preserving our environment. I believe that the interconnectedness of all living beings is crucial in experiencing humanity to its fullest potential. My work is an extension of my own personal journey of experiencing the world, and I hope to ignite a similar self-discovery in my viewers.”
