We have had the pleasure of hosting Georgian artist Matt Shally for a three month stay at the Villa from June to September 2025. Matt is known for his work in film, drag, theatre, and fashion performances, often incorporating personal insights and experience and unapologetic self-expression. He performs and directs shows and concept performances in the Georgian underground scene, which often highlight the resilience of the Georgian queer community, despite ongoing societal challenges.
During his residency, Matt has continued his work in both Helsinki and Tbilisi, working primarily on creative theatrical projects and supporting the Georgian LGBTQ+ community.
