During October, Merja Männikkö came to us from Oulu to enjoy the peace of the Villa whilst writing for a new book.
Merja graduated from the University of Oulu with a Master’s degree in Education and as a class teacher specialising in arts and practical subjects. She has also completed a Degree in Cultural Studies at Oulu University of Applied Sciences, majoring in journalism within the communication program. She has written articles to northern cultural magazine Kaltio during years 2010 – 2023.
In her first book Maailman paras ope – Luovan ja herkän naisen työelämähvaintoja, Merja looks back fondly on her more than 30 years of work history and reflects on her interesting search phase in working life that began at the age of 40. She emphasises the special role of schools in strengthening the culture of the heart, equality, and understanding of diversity in the interaction between people in our society today.
