Mihaela Mîndru is a pluridisciplinary artist from Moldova, based in Paris. She came in artist residency to Villa in June 2026. Working across animation, painting, drawing, music and event organising, she explores individual and collective memory through motifs inspired by her personal and cultural folklore. Her films, books and images act as sensitive archives, where memories and emotions intertwine to deconstruct and reimagine the past. She was invited to come to Helsinki by Under the Leaf Book Fair, that took place on June 5-6 at Uniarts Helsinki, where she held a conference about her work and a screening of her animation films, as well as being an exhibitor to the book fair.
