Tīna Pētersone was in residency at Villa in June 2026 for her curatorial research. She is an independent curator based in Riga, Latvia, and co-founder of Riga Art Week. At the core of her practice is a curiosity about the systems, rituals, and hidden undercurrents that define our time. She is interested in the infrastructures—social, cultural, political, and technological—that shape contemporary life, and in how artists render these often invisible forces visible, tangible, and open to reflection. Her practice spans exhibitions, performances, commissions, and collaborative projects, often beginning with what is missing—in context or content—and creating opportunities for new encounters, connections, and exchange.
Alongside her independent curatorial practice, she recently worked as Creative Producer and Curator of Contemporary Art Commissions for Liepāja 2027, European Capital of Culture. She has participated in residencies and fellowships at Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris), Hyde Park Art Center (Chicago), Performa Biennial (New York), the Curatorial Program for Research (Nordics), and the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts, among others. She holds an MFA in Curating from Goldsmiths, University of London, and focuses on creating lasting connections between the Baltic region and wider artistic communities.
